Trá le cialzá - The slipper throwing

On the eve of Epiphany, the girls of the farm devoted themselves to the slipper throwing. They would stand in the middle of the room and throw a slipper towards the door to see if they would get married within the year.

If the tip of the slipper fell towards the door, it meant that they would soon be married. If, on the other hand, the toe of the slipper pointed towards the room, it would not happen, at least not that year.
