In Alta Badia con il cane

Discover the Dolomites with your four-legged friend

Alta Badia, even your dog will love it here

Wide open spaces, wonderland-like nature. Yes, even your dog will love it here in our valley, and you are welcome to bring him along. That is, as long as you observe a few general rules of conduct and good manners. Your dog is allowed to travel on the cable cars, but must wear a muzzle. You must keep him on a leash and dispose properly of your dog’s waste. In this regard, you can find several dog toilets in the valley and on the trails in the high-altitude Movimënt area. Moreover, there are several dog-friendly bars and alpine huts on the high plateau as well as many pet-friendly accommodation facilities, restaurants and alpine shelters where dogs and other small pets are welcome.

Holidaying with the dog

Holiday accessories for your four-legged friend

Leashes and muzzles, using them is not an optional

The leash is not an accessory: it is mandatory by law for dogs to wear it. Likewise for the muzzle, which must always be worn when boarding public transport and cable cars. Dogs are not allowed to enter children's areas. If required, our Tourist Offices provide you with a list of dog sitters that are available in the valley.

Down in the valley or at high altitudes, your dog is always at your side

Down in the valley there are many wide and plain trails suitable for dogs of all sizes and characters. Even the rather lazy ones. If you are looking for a nice hike at high altitude, you can head for the pleasant trails on the plateau between Pralongiá, Piz La Ila and Piz Sorega. Besides the dog-friendly alpine huts you can also find dog bars at the mountain stations of the lift facilities. Everything for your closest friend.

Tips and useful information

Good to know

Alta Badia, our tips for a holiday with your dog

In every village and along the paths of Alta Badia you will find bins and bag dispensers for collecting your friend's droppings. Make sure you always pick them up and don't leave any waste along the trails: your dog's excrements pose a risk not only to humans, but also to other animals. Therefore, as well as to contribute to environmental protection, minimise health risks and reduce conflicts in public spaces, dog toilets have been set up in all six of Alta Badia’s villages.
