The mountains: a vertical challenge balancing adventure and nature

Na munt de emoziuns, lofty emotions: this is the title of a series of events held in the villages of Alta Badia, featuring some of the most experienced, charismatic and world-renowned climbers and mountaineers. Their stories recount a life of climbing - which at times has been extreme and of a great strength of mind - and their love for the mountains in all their facets and latitudes around the globe. These events place the relationship between athletes and mountains at the heart of each encounter. Adventure and thrills amidst the vertical world of an awe-inspiring nature. Don’t miss it.

Vertical encounters, between thrills and adventure

A via ferrata is a secured climbing track that features fixed metal ropes, steel ladders and stirrups as well as fixed anchors that facilitate reaching the summit or any other rock climbing destination. The level of difficulty of a via ferrata is categorised as follows: A - easy, B - moderate, C - difficult, D - very difficult, E - extremely difficult, F - beyond extremely difficult.

The famous via ferrata Tridentina at Pisciadù is a stunning and equipped track that runs on the north face of the Sella Group, amidst a captivating environment. Since the level of difficulty is medium, the Tridentina attracts a large number of hikers. Its most spectacular point certainly is the suspension bridge.

The great 4 Peaks challenge involves scaling four magnificent peaks in Alta Badia in one single tour spanning several days: Sas dla Crusc - Sasso Santa Croce 2.907m, Piza dales Diesc - Cima Dieci 3.026m, Lavarela 3.055m and Conturines 3.064m.

The “king of the eight-thousanders” was the first to climb all 14 of the world's highest peaks without the use of oxygen tanks. He was born in the Val di Funes valley and cut his teeth climbing and setting new routes on the Sas dla Crusc - Sasso Santa Croce.

Those tackling the mountains have to be aware that descending a steep trail or climbing a steep wall requires both knowledge of the terrain as well as physical and technical skills - without either of which it is not recommended to attempt the adventure.
