Wine Skisafari - De dl vin

South Tyrol and Alta Badia: raise your glasses! The “Wine Skisafari – De dl vin” is an oenological experience, a wine tasting as fascinating as original, which brings a selection of the finest South Tyrolean wines to the heights of the mountains. During the event, you can ski from mountain hut to mountain hut to discover Alpine wines of Mediterranean flavour, which, as a result of the grape varieties being cultivated at altitudes between 200 and 1,000 metres, are rich in character. The Wine Skisafari – De dl vin is an event devoted to all ski and wine lovers, stating the tight bond between South Tyrol and Alta Badia, which have been collaborating for years in the fields of regional oenology.

Wine-tasting with Alto Adige wines at 2000 m.

The Wine Skisafari offers a cheerful expedition on skis across the country’s multitude of wines.

Tickets are available online and also on the day of the event at participating huts:

- Ütia Bioch

- Pralongiá hut

- Piz Arlara

- I Tablá

Alta Badia, the Dolomite region for epicurean holidays, supports, among other things, the responsible use of alcohol under the motto: taste, enjoy, but don't overdo it. Too much alcohol on the slopes slows down reflexes and can cause accidents even on the ski slopes.

Please remember, when skiing, the consumption of alcohol is permitted in moderate quantities, fines will be imposed if the alcohol level exceeds 0.5 per mille.

During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.

Good to know

South Tyrol, land of mountains: how is it possible that vines grow at such high altitudes?

The Alps protect the landscape from cold and humid masses coming from the north, allowing the warm and moist winds to enter from Lake Garda and the Mediterranean in the south.

What is the meaning of the acronym “DOC”?

“DOC” stands for “Denominazione di Origine Controllata”, which in Englisch equals with “Controlled Designation of Origin” and refers to the regulations that ensure compliance by winegrowers with strict guidelines ranging from the maximum yield permitted and authorised grape varieties up to bottled wine quality. South Tyrol holds a record at national level: indeed, 98% of the overall wine-growing area is protected by DOC regulations.

Why should I hold a wine glass by the stem?

To preserve the wine's ideal temperature, preventing the wine from heating up when in contact with the hand.

Is it necessary to drink up each glass during a wine tasting?

As a promoter of tasteful holidays, Alta Badia advocates responsible drinking: taste but don’t exceed. Drinking too much alcohol slows your reflexes on the slopes and may lead to accidents. Also keep in mind that skiing under the influence of alcohol is strictly forbidden by law.

What are the activities of the South Tyrolean Wine Consortium?

The Consortium connects all players in the South Tyrolean wine sector, such as cooperatives, companies and self-employed winegrowers, by supporting high quality standards along with an equally high level of knowledge transfer and marketing.

How does the South Tyrolean wine industry deal with climate change?

The South Tyrolean wine sector decided a long time ago to contribute to sustainability by implementing very ambitious measures in five fundamental areas: soil, vines, wine, people and territory. After all, only a conscious approach to climate challenges can safeguard our future.
