SunRisa, the thrill of skiing in the Dolomites at sunrise
The golden throne of Dawn, fingertips of rose: that is how Homer depicted the birth of the new day. Yet he had never witnessed the Dolomites, so who knows what he might have come up with if he did. On the Monday of the Ski World Cup in Alta Badia, all devotees of this marvellous sport are given the opportunity to marvel at the rising sun at an altitude of 2,000 metres while skiing in a backdrop that is nothing less than striking. In addition to the lift facilities welcoming you in the earliest morning hours for this occasion, also the alpine huts participating in the SunRisa initiative are ready to spoil you with a breakfast based on local, natural and top-quality ingredients. SunRisa - greeting the sun of the Dolomites, a moment that every skier needs to experience.
Unspoilt ski slopes, majestic mountain scenery and an excellent breakfast with healthy regionally-sourced ingredients.
Each participating refuge will be paired with a breakfast staple such as milk, cereal, eggs or fruit. To ensure the highest quality, the breakfast composition is created with the support of Elena Casiraghi, nutrition expert - Equipe Enervit.

The portions of the dishes are smaller with prices ranging from €3,50 to €4,00 (prices may vary as they are exclusively chosen by the huts).
The dishes can be purchased directly at the refuges.
All you need to participate is your ski pass.

From 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. (last run) every 10 - 15 minutes.
During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.

The refund will be made with a medical certificate or if the event is cancelled by the Alta Badia Tourism Cooperative.
Follow the SS244 Val Badia road towards La Villa and reach the parking place of the Piz La Ila cable car.
Why can’t SunRisa be considered a mere sports event?
Well, because skiing at dawn - at an altitude of two thousand metres and amidst the striking scenery of the Dolomites, the untouched slopes and crisp, clear air - is beyond anything you can imagine.
Is the breakfast in the “SunRisa” huts a smokescreen?
Absolutely not. The participating mountain huts are committed and ingenious in their efforts to offer not only a superb breakfast, but one that is based on healthy and local ingredients.
Can the Enrosadira be witnessed during the SunRisa?
That depends entirely on the weather conditions and whether or not Aeolus is in good mood. Either way, it's worth getting up early and taking a chance: if you're lucky, you'll not only be rewarded with a spectacle, but one that fills heart and soul with joy.
Is there any relation between the legendary King Laurin and the break of dawn?
Indeed, for King Laurin is the sovereign of the Dolomite roses; rock crystals nestled in his glorious garden glowing brighter than ever at first sunlight. King Laurin's legend is closely linked to the splendour of dawn in the Dolomites.
