The first rule when going to the mountains: behave best possible

The unwritten etiquette of the Dolomites, but carved into everyone's sensibilities

For many years Alta Badia and the Dolomites have been a destination for hikers, cyclists, skiers and lovers of alpine nature from all over the world. For this reason it is important, indeed essential, that those who visit them always respect some basic rules of good conduct. In collaboration with local mountaineers and guides, we have identified some useful tips that we dedicate to those who want to face the mountains in a serene and safe way. First of all, choose a path, route or slope that is suitable for your abilities. In our tourist offices you will find all the information you need to satisfy your desire for the mountains. Second, always evaluate the length, altitude, elevation gain, travel time and characteristics of the trail, climb or slope you want to tackle. Third, always check that you have the most suitable equipment, the right amount of water and food, and never underestimate your limits. And remember: nature is fragile, help protect it by staying on the trails, avoiding unnecessary noise and always taking back any kind of waste. Do not disturb the animals and in case of emergency the first number to call is 112. Giulan.
